The Stones aren't going to come out smelling too good and I doubt they are doing it because they are ok with it.
The Rolling Stones just inked a deal to play their first gig ever in Israel, and supporters of Palestinians hopping mad.
The legendary band announced Monday they would play Tel Aviv June 4 — huge news in the Jewish state, which often sees major rocks acts skip the country.
Tickets start at $200.
But as soon as the announcement was made, supporters of the Palestinian movement warned that the band was playing with fire, and that its ticket sales would suffer of rocking Israel.
“We appeal to your moral principles and your record of standing up for human rights and human dignity, the Palestinian Campaign for the Academic and Cultural Boycott of Israel to the band. “We sincerely hope that you shall cancel this ill-conceived and particularly harmful concert in Israel.”
Many critics of Israel are part of the boycott, divestment and sanction(BDS) organization, which advocates economic and cultural isolation of the country.
Former Pink Floyd frontman Roger Waters is a member of the movementand frequently gets into wars of words with fellow celebrities over Israel.
Most recently he took on Scarlett Johansson and Bar Refaeli.
The Stones show was in the works prior to the suicide of Mick Jagger’s girlfriend, L’Wren Scott.
The fashion designer was found hanging in her Chelsea apartment last week, prompting the band to postpone a tour in Australia and New Zealand.
